Velvet Custard Pie

Smooth and Creamy. 5 ingredients and it tastes perfect. Don't overcook this pie or it will turn watery on top on you. This is a tried and true recipe that is always a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients

  • 4 slightly beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups milk scalded
  • 1 unbaked pie shell

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 475 degrees
  • In your mixer, combine the eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla.
  • Slowly add in the scalded milk.
  • Place your pie shell in the oven with the rack half pulled out. Pour the filling into the pie shell in the oven. Carefully push the rack back into the oven. This pie will be full, do not spill the pie.
  • Bake at 475 degrees for 5 minutes. Turn down the temperature to 425 degrees and bake for 10 more minutes. Pie should not be runny, it may jiggle a tiny bit. Cool and serve.
